The Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University invite applications for consideration in a Faculty Associates pool during the 2020-2021 academic year. The successful candidate(s) will teach graduate-level courses in program evaluation and data analytics as part of a new online master’s degree in Program Evaluation and Data Analytics. The role requires someone that can deliver online lectures, administer assignments and exams, evaluate and grade student work, and hold virtual office hours to assist students. All courses require some knowledge of R for lectures and labs.

Faculty Associate positions are hired on one semester, renewable contracts with loads that do not to exceed .40 FTE (equivalent to two 3-credit classes). The position is a non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure eligibility. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. A background check is required prior to employment.

Required Qualifications:
- Terminal degree OR a Master’s degree plus five years of professional experience in quantitative social sciences such as public policy or economics, data science, applied statistics, computer science, or any related fields.
- Experience with R or a related language (Python, SAS, Stata, etc.).
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency with GitHub and Markdown.
- Sound understanding of principles of project management optimized for reproducibility and extensibility such as formal data science workflows or open science best practices. Experience with dashboard design, ggplot, R Shiny, javascript, D3, or dynamic web applications.
- Evidence of excellent teaching ability.
- Experience in online instruction.
- Demonstrated success working with diverse student populations and those with social science backgrounds.
