Description
The (Senior) Data Scientist is responsible for supporting data science initiatives that drive business profitability, increased efficiencies, and improved customer experience. Specifically, you will leverage a wide range of predictive modeling, feature engineering, and model production techniques to achieve the above stated initiatives. As a (Senior) Data Scientist, you will develop skills that effectively leverage data science methodologies to creatively solve business problems and provide strategic insights. Code here is key, as all initiatives will need to be developed into semi and fully automated production MLOps pipelines, from ingestion to client delivery. Additionally, this role requires effective communication skills as well as continuous learning and development at both the technical and business level.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities
70%: Solution Development
- Design and develop algorithms and models to use against large datasets to create business insights
- Supports data science projects by conducting effective analysis to solve business problems
- Executes tasks with high levels of efficiency and quality
- Consults with analytics team on appropriate selection, utilization, and interpretation of advanced analytical methodologies
- Learn about the assigned business areas to provide better solutions by incorporating business-specific knowledge
20%: Communicating Results
- Effectively communicate insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audience
- Support preparation of reports, updates and/or presentations related to progress made on a project or solution
- Highlights potential impacts of recommendations to drive alignment and appropriate implementation
10%: Technical Learning
- Keep up to date on industry trends, best practices, and emerging methodologies
- Continually develop skills and expertise in data analytics concepts and methodologies
- Identify opportunities to apply learnings
Nature and Scope
- This position reports to the CTO.
- This position has 0 direct reports.
Required Experience
- Master’s degree or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics or other related discipline (Bachelor’s Considered for Excellent Candidates)
- 3+ years’ experience with the development of risk solutions
- Strong R Coding Experience, both base and the Tidyverse
- Extensive experience in predictive analytics, risk management and/or predictive maintenance
- Experience building logistic and linear regression as well as machine learning models like Random Forests or Gradient Boosted Trees
Set Yourself Apart
- Experience with Python and SQL is preferred
- Experience with Model Production is a plus, especially MLFLOW or KubeFlow
- Ability to communicate with VP level and higher leadership, both internally and externally
- Knowledge of healthcare or insurance data and models within those spaces
- Project management experience including leading statistical and technical resources on projects
- Ability to clearly present statistical solutions to non-statistical people
- Knowledge of model development and theory, including machine learning techniques
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud environments a plus
