This on-site, full-time position joins a small but dedicated team of data scientists in our New York City office. As a group, nearly all of our analysis, reporting, and data restructuring is performed in the R language. Familiarity with Bash, GNU Make, Perl and MYSQL is a plus, but not required for this position. We serve a benefits company with five very distinct business units, spanning from Medical Insurance, Property and Casualty, to Investments and financial education. This makes for a very diverse workflow. In a single week we are building maps in Leaflet, creating reproducible reports that generate actionable business insights, and building, e.g., ARIMA models to forecast future revenue. We also produce external reports for affiliated organizations that are widely consumed. Individuals with a deep familiarity with R, solid statistical reasoning abilities, and who enjoy working with diverse methodologies and data sources would enjoy this position.
