Morning Consult is one of D.C.’s fastest growing polling and digital media companies.
Morning Consult produces actionable polling and market research data on the most relevant policy and business issues. Our weekly national polls are conducted among 2,000 registered voters for use by our digital media company, Fortune 500 clients, and industry trade associations. Our polls have been cited by over 100 media outlets, including Bloomberg, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post. We are looking to expand our data and polling teams immediately.
Responsibilities.
– Continuously generating ideas to improve data collection methods and quality.
– Conducting all aspects of the data collection process such as designing survey questionnaires, administering survey experiments, and improving sampling/weighting methods.
– Utilizing statistical techniques such as regression analysis and machine learning to develop
and improve statistical models.
– Collaborating with software programmers, software engineers, and academics to write papers summarizing results from survey and experimental research projects.
Technical Requirements.
– Expertise with R statistical software (i.e., data visualization and processing).
– Knowledge of descriptive/inferential statistics and econometrics.
– Experience designing experiments (i.e., a/b testing, hypothesis testing, power calculations)
– Experience with online survey design, online survey panels and online weighting methodologies.
– Expertise with LaTeX or similar versions of TeX.
Recommended.
– Some experience with web development languages (JS, HTML, PHP, etc.) and APIs.
– Familiarity with Python, Amazon Web Services, Amazon Mechanical Turk, Qualtrics.
– Some experience with version control (Git, SVN, etc.).
– Familiarity with searching academic journal databases
– Some experience managing large databases.
– Working knowledge of scripting languages, such as Python.
– Familiarity with C/C++ or Java is a plus.
– Appreciation of White House vistas, living the dream, and EDM.
– Eager to have fun and work hard in a fast-paced startup environment.
Qualifications.
– A bachelors degree in statistics, computer science, math, economics, physics, or engineering (or equivalent)
– 1-3 years of experience in highly analytical role at a fast-paced company (or equivalent).
– Team-oriented and self-starter.
