A client of my company is in need of a Data Scientist to augment the current team in their modelling work.
The client is a major insurer with one of the best and brightest Analytics Groups I have ever dealt with (I am a consultant working with them currently). I say this after having worked with 15+ companies across 3 different industries.
The position may initially start as a contract-to-hire (the client hasn’t yet decided if they wish to directly hire full-time or go through a contract period first). If the position starts as a contract-to hire, then contingent upon meeting client requirements (one would assume that after the rigorous interview and the projects you work on, they would be met), they will extend a full-time offer. The contract is expected to be <= 6 months but the full-time offer can be extended anytime during the contract period.
Key requirements
- 2-5 Years Experience
- Deep knowledge of Statistics is an absolute must
- Knowledge of insurance – Not needed. Client has promised to take care of this and it is a non-issue for them.
- Very strong expertise in R needed. Has to be a super star.
- Knowledge of Mathematica is preferred, but it is a future requirement, and not mandatory now.
- Strong expertise with regression models (GLM mostly) needed.
- Knowledge of Machine learning – Supervised and Unsupervised techniques. Random Forests, SVM, etc.
- Knowledge of wide spectrum of modeling techniques
- Exceptional programming skills in one or more platforms
- The drive to deliver on commitments and an openness to new ideas
