The Poverty and Equity Global Practice at the World Bank has an exciting opportunity for an R-developer. This is a part-time 4-month position (with possible extensions based on performance). The candidate will engage and contribute their programming expertise towards meaningful evidence-based policy making in developing countries. The candidate will help to develop and implement state-of-the-art tools that will serve as inputs to policy makers with the objective of improving the poverty and distributional impact of policies.
Education, Experience and Knowledge Requirements
- Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related field, or 3+ years of experience in a relevant role.
- Expert knowledge of R (expert R coding and programming practices; ability to design and write functions).
- Advanced proficiency with R Shiny.
- Ability to translate a model originally programmed in STATA into R.
- Ability to work with household survey data
- Strong knowledge of computer science practices; strong technical aptitude.
