ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION:
The Schroeder Institute is a multidisciplinary research organization focused on high-risk, high-reward research to reduce the prevalence of tobacco use in the United States. We have established strategic programs of intervention and policy research; generated high impact publications; competed for extramural funds with a growing research portfolio; convened strategic conferences to identify critical research priorities; disseminated findings to research, practice and policy audiences; and established a dynamic training program for the next generation of tobacco control scientists. Our research approach capitalizes on and extends traditional academic research by incorporating rapid prototype development, iterative testing and refinement throughout the intervention development lifecycle. A major focus of research conducted at the Institute is to leverage the enormous power of technology to both conduct research and deliver evidence-based smoking cessation interventions to large populations, targeting both traditional web as well as newer social networks and mobile applications, including GIS.
