We are looking for an R programming rock star to wow us with statistical and data analysis magic on a high-velocity Scrum team. If this is you, you will be passionate about velocity, technology, and leading by example within the Scrum framework, on top of being a technically proficient R data miner. In short, you build great models fast, and you love doing it.
This is a long-term, W2 position, with tremendous potential to continuously deliver high value to the customer in weekly increments.
Responsibilities:
* Take personal responsibility for determining what you are going to do to help your team meet its objectives every day and every sprint
* Take personal responsibility for ensuring you understand the work your product owner is asking you to do every sprint
* Consciously work to become T-shaped in your technical and process skillsets
* Mentor your teammates in your strengths
* Give your PO reasons things can be done instead of reasons things can’t be done
* Use velocity and quality as your process yardsticks, and fitness of the software as your technical yardstick
* Take pride in what you do, and how fast you do it
* Build statistical and data analysis routines for data mining a warehouse
* Extract, report, and graph outputs and outcomes
* Crank out high-value stories every sprint
Requirements:
* 2+ years statistical programming using R
* Proficiency with dplyr, ggplot, and ggviz
* Data extraction and reporting
* Willingness to learn the Scrum framework
* Not know the meaning of “impossible”
* Love to make and keep reasonable commitments
* Up to 10% travel
Nice to have (pluses):
* Passion for Scrum, and the ability to tell us where this passion comes from
* Experience using R in AWS or another cloud environment
* AWS Redshift
* Passion for and practical experience with TDD, CI, and CD, with ability to mentor other team members in it
* Healthcare
* ETL, reports, and DB analysis using Python or other dynamic language
* Degree in CS, statistics, mathematics, or related field of study
