Looking for new opportunities in one of Germany’s top environmental tech startups? Air pollution is one of the biggest challenges of our times. This is why Hawa Dawa (“Air Medicine”) was founded in 2016, with the vision to digitise and revolutionise the air quality management market.
We are an interdisciplinary and growing team of about 24 professionals combining expert knowledge in air quality measurement, epidemiology, data science, clean mobility, business, software and IOT hardware. The foundation of our work is the data we generate for our customers: we pride ourselves in producing reliable and solid products that are relevant for air quality measurement, smart city products, new mobility services and more.
Behind good products are great people – and we currently require additional (wo)man power to continue developing our internal sensor network management software. Throughout your career, you have gained a number of years experience mixing statistical programming in R with in-production systems, either in your own working experience or in the form of community collaboration on an open source platform like GitHub. Your way of working is structured and reliable, which is in-line with our working culture. We are committed to delivering clean, secure, reliable and reusable code, as it is the basis for making our product offering scalable and of high quality. Ideally, your strong programming skills in R are complimented by a sound understanding of Python. Focusing on writing good code will be one of your key tasks. Occasionally, you will be asked to present and explain technical concepts to others in the company as well as external stakeholders. You will be a valued member of our software team from day one, planning and implementing tasks together using an agile methodology. Your efforts will be key to ensuring our air pollution sensor network functions at a global scale.
Our headquarters are located in the heart of Munich, within walking distance to the Theresienwiese and very accessible with public transportation or bike.

What you bring to this job:
- Proven experience in maintaining code in a commercial setting or in an open source setting with many users/collaborators.
- Experience in working in a software team where code is co-developed and reused for multiple purpose.
- Experience in data analysis/statistics
- Communication & presentation skills
- Teamplayer
- Knowledge in additional languages such as Python and Javascript are of advantage
- Excellent English skills, German is a plus.
